The Friendship Project
Relationships are so important. Family, friends, significant others, and those individuals who touch your life. Our interactions with those around us, help define us.
What we sometimes neglect is taking time to appreciate these relationships. It is up to us to create and allow opportunities to be together, enjoy each other, and be there for each other.
Life is busy, and presents it's challenges. For some, it's distance. Modern technology makes distance trivial in some aspects, but it has not dissolved the physical absence that comes with it.
It could be a matter of doing something to show your appreciation for someone who is a part of your daily life - reminding them that they, as an individual, are important to you.
I have the tendency to turn to crystals when I want to let someone know I care. Rocks and minerals are unique within themselves, and tend to bring joy where they travel. In light of this, I've been thinking about friendship necklaces lately. The classic, "best" and "friends" just isn't quite enough. When I want to give someone something meaningful, it needs to be personal, and unique for them.
The answer lies in pairs. Two pieces of something unique, one part with each person. So, I decided to make a group of pendants, in pairs. The idea is to have something unique between you and someone special to you, that you each share.
I'll be making pendants out of two of the same stone, similarly shaped. They will be almost-identical, and unique in that there are only two like that. They come as a pair: you keep one, and share the other with someone you care about.
Whether who you are thinking about is next to you, or on the other side of the world, there is always time to show appreciation to those you love.
